What would it take to have 5% more fun in your kitchen today?
What makes the simple act of daily cooking seem so daunting, more often than not?
I don't have a definitive answer, but I do have an inkling...
We all have to eat. Every. Single. Day.
No wonder that everyday cooking often feels like a chore, like a heavy weight of responsibity, something we have to get through and churn out day after day. Something we would rather get rid off in our life.
Cue secret dreams of private chefs, the reign of 'quick and easy' recipes, 'chopped for you' meal boxes and cop-out take-aways.
But what if 'easy cooking' and tasty dinner had nothing to do with being 'more organised' and 'being better' at it?
What if we simply decided that cooking is fun?
That cooking time is time we value - an opportunity to grab some much needed me-time, or family time? An opportunity to feel creative and resourceful? An opportunity to share and to smile??
What if we focussed on the journey rather than the destination?
.
👉 Try this:
What's the next thing you need to do about getting dinner on the table today? Find a recipe? Write a shopping list? Dash to the store? Chop some onions?Find a way to make it 5% more fun.
Play some music. Take time to appeciate the aroma of your spices and to notice the bright colours on your veggies. Get your partner/child/guest to chat to you. Or to stir the pan. Taste what is cooking. Smile to yourself. Laugh out loud.
Do whatever it takes to make the process 5% more fun.
Instead of rushing through the chore, choose to focus on what's in front of you.
.
We tend to want to do things that feel good.
And we can make just about anything feel 5% better 💗
